Our Team
Chinthana Duminduhewa
Founding Chairman
Chinthana Duminduhewa is a leading expert in sustainable tourism with over 25 years of experience in destination management, policy advisory, capacity building, and tourism certification. As the Founding Chairman of Sustainable Tourism Initiatives (Pvt) Ltd, he works with government agencies, international organizations, NGOs, and private sector partners to foster responsible and impactful sustainable tourism development in Sri Lanka and beyond.
He is a certified Lead Trainer of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and has conducted extensive training programs across Asia, empowering tourism professionals and destinations to align with global sustainability standards. Chinthana also serves as the Country Coordinator and Global Expert for Green Destinations, contributing as a key consultant to Sri Lanka’s first destination certification in Sigiriya.
Chinthana is a visiting lecturer at the University of Colombo and holds a master’s degree in Tourism Economics and Hospitality Management. He is currently pursuing his PhD in sustainable tourism
Prof. (Dr) D A C Suranga Silva
Head of Education and Training
Prof. (Dr) D.A.C. Suranga Silva is a leading expert in tourism economics and sustainable tourism development in Sri Lanka. With a Ph.D. from Vrije University Amsterdam, he has over 35 years of academic and policy experience, including roles such as Director General of SLITHM and member of Sri Lanka’s Tourism Advisory Committee. He specializes in community empowerment, policy design, and international partnerships to promote inclusive, evidence-based sustainable tourism and economic development.

Tourism Expert
Kingston Khoo is a seasoned tourism and sustainability professional with over 20 years of experience across the travel, hospitality, and e-commerce sectors. He is a certified trainer with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and currently serves as Co-Owner and CEO of Dusky Leaf Adventures, Co-Principal Consultant at Mind Mingle Mentor, and President of Eco-STEPS Malaysia. Kingston has led marketing, product development, and sustainability initiatives in both private and NGO sectors. He is passionate about empowering communities and businesses through sustainable tourism practices, and is actively involved in training, mentoring, and promoting responsible tourism across Malaysia and the region.
Alison Burgh
Destination Marketing Expert
Alison has produced global cause-related music events, created the national brand and award-winning ecotourism storytelling videos for Guyana, and led the brand development and European market launch of Mahindra Homestays, a pioneering initiative developing and promoting India’s first national network of authentic, community-based tourism accommodation.
Alison is a Green Destinations partner, Tourism Management Institute Head of Sustainability and UNWTO Glasgow Declaration contributor, Alison has worked in Colombia, Rwanda and Sierra Leone and is passionate about the potential of regenerative tourism to empower communities in post-conflict states and revitalise natural and cultural heritage.
